The last three columns link to this site's editorial lists: the tier list, the best-games ranking and the difficulty ranking. They are editorial preferences, not official ratings; "Not ranked" means the game is not in that list.

Original platforms follow KONAMI's launch announcement, except Belmont's Revenge: the announcement labels it "GBA", while KONAMI's US release history lists Game Boy, which this page follows. North American dates come from KONAMI US Castlevania release history.

Where to Start in This Collection

Our editorial lists place Dracula's Curse in A tier and put it seventh of ten best games. The difficulty ranking puts the original Castlevania and Dracula's Curse at the hardest end, so this collection suits a classic stage-based challenge more than a gentle introduction; for exploration, our decision guide points to Symphony of the Night or Aria of Sorrow instead.

Dracula's Curse is also the story anchor of Belmont's Curse, which is set 23 years later according to Xbox Wire official feature (October 14, 2026). Read the timeline for the placement; no older game is compulsory before the new game.
