Editorial Policy
CastlevaniaGuide.com is an unofficial Castlevania reference site. This page explains how its pages are researched, checked, dated and corrected. Research and editing appear under the byline Merrick Halstowe, Research Editor.
What we publish
We publish reference pages: release and platform comparisons, collection contents, timelines, rankings and decision guides, plus pages that separate what official sources confirm from what is only reported. Pages draw on released builds and official announcements, and speculation is labelled as such.
Where facts come from
- Primary sources. KONAMI announcements and product pages, platform and storefront listings, and official platform news posts. These support release, price and platform facts.
- Secondary sources. Reviews, news reports and score aggregators from named publications. These support statements about reception and are attributed by name.
- Not used as a basis for facts. Anonymous posts, unsourced claims and content that cannot be traced to a named source.
How facts are checked
- Every fact is attributed to the source that states it. Newer pages also record each source's publisher and the date it was checked.
- Before a page goes live, each number, date and platform name on it is compared with its source.
- Where sources disagree, the page shows both versions.
- Prices and review scores are snapshots and are labelled with the date observed.
Status labels
Fact-check tables mark each claim as confirmed by an official source, reported by a third party, or not established by our sources. Editorial rankings and recommendations are labelled as editorial judgment, with the criteria stated on the page.
Dates
Each page shows when it was last updated, and pages first published from October 28, 2026 onward also show their first-published date. We change the last-updated date when the substance of a page changes, and we do not change it for typo fixes or for adding links to other pages.
Wording and media
We write in our own words and keep quotations short, with the source named beside them. We link to official trailers and store pages rather than copying their images or video. Every image, chart or video on the site has its source credited next to it.
Corrections
If you find an error, email support@castlevaniaguide.com with the page URL and, if possible, a source link. Each reported error is checked against its source. When a correction is made, the page shows the date of the correction and a short description of what changed. Corrections are also listed below.
Correction log. This log began on 2026-10-28; no corrections have been recorded since.
Independence and advertising
Rankings and recommendations are not influenced by advertisers or by KONAMI. If advertising appears on the site, it is described in the privacy policy and is kept separate from editorial content.
